General contractors ask this before finalizing a living room layout because relocating outlets or running new low-voltage cable adds time and drywall work to any project. In most cases, a custom TV station can be designed around existing power and cable locations, as long as the outlet height and HDMI or coax runs are documented during our on-site measurement. If the homeowner wants a cleaner look with no visible cords, we typically recommend adding an in-wall power kit or cable pass-through before the slat wall or cabinetry goes up, which is a quick electrical add rather than a full relocation. We build the frame, floating shelves, and storage cabinets to conceal wiring paths and leave access points for future equipment changes. Most TV stations, from a simple floating shelf to a full wood slat wall with LED base lighting, are ready for installation within four to six weeks of final design approval.
